Posting on Digg can be good, because more people can find you. As I understand, having a link to your site from Digg will not help with the Google rankings, but it may be helpful for other seach engines. It takes some time to post there. I would recommend you use some kind of program that does your social-linking for you. I use Traffic Bug (here you can read what it does for you).

Some good points about backlinking. But I got a question. Do you know if ’social bookmarking’ your site on digg is beneficial as a backlink for seo? I tried it on my website but I’m not seeing anything out of it. The confusing part is, take a look at the homepage of digg, the ‘top in all topics’ are not ‘nofollow’, where as new stories are ‘nofollow’. So, would you recommend digg.com for seo purposes as a backlink?
