Leverage Your Back-linking Efforts
Here is how you can leverage your back-linking efforts.
Whenever you comment on a blog you can usually get a back-link to your site. But some blogs also have a “recent comments” widget or a “top commentator” widget. These widgets usually appear on the side, on all the pages of the blog. This means that if a blog has 100 posts, instead of just getting one back-link, you could potentially get 100 back-links. (In general only about 80% of the pages are indexed by the search engined, but that is still a large number.)
The down side is, of course, that these links will not stay there for all eternity. However, if you find a couple of blogs with “recent comments” and “top commentator” widgets, bookmark them, and comment on them say twice a month, you could be getting a steady inflow of back-links.
This is a great way of building back-links if you are doing a launch and only plan to use the website for a limited period of time.
To find these blogs just do a search on Google for: “recent comments” your keyword
or: “top commentator” your keyword
One thing to check and make sure is that the “recent comments” widget really shows links back to the people who commented and not just the post which is being commented.
Make sure that you read the post you are commenting and actually leave a comment that adds value to the post.
Go ahead, give it a try! Your comment might be worth 100 back-links…

really gud post..i would like to give it a try…
Glad you liked the post. And do give this leveraged form of back-linking a try.
Some good points about backlinking. But I got a question. Do you know if ’social bookmarking’ your site on digg is beneficial as a backlink for seo? I tried it on my website but I’m not seeing anything out of it. The confusing part is, take a look at the homepage of digg, the ‘top in all topics’ are not ‘nofollow’, where as new stories are ‘nofollow’. So, would you recommend digg.com for seo purposes as a backlink?
Great posts. Ive’d learned so much from you. Thanks
Posting on Digg can be good, because more people can find you. As I understand, having a link to your site from Digg will not help with the Google rankings, but it may be helpful for other seach engines. It takes some time to post there. I would recommend you use some kind of program that does your social-linking for you. I use Traffic Bug (here you can read what it does for you).
